AVOID A FINE

Owners of the state’s estimated 340,000 swimming pools have been urged to register their details to avoid a fine. Local Government Minister Don Page  said pool owners will have until October 29, 2013 to register or face a maximum fine of $2,200.
The state government has set up a swimming pool register as part of effort to reduce backyard drownings.
The register requires owners to do a self  assessment of their pools through an online check list to ensure they meet the state’s legal requirements.
“It’s a sad fact that an average of six kids drown each year in backyard pools in NSW” Mr Page said.
